Wend is LinkedIn's newest daily word game (launched June 2026): a small grid of letter tiles hides a handful of words of varying lengths. You trace each word through neighbouring tiles, and together the words must use every open tile exactly once.

Wend rules

The grid hides several words — both how many and how long they are change from day to day, and together their letters match the open tiles exactly.
Trace each word by moving between neighbouring tiles up, down, left or right — never diagonally.
Every open tile must be used exactly once across the day's words; grey walls are out of play.
The words interlock like a jigsaw: a word is only correct if the tiles it leaves behind can still form the remaining words.

How to win at Wend — strategy

1Start from the dead ends

A tile boxed in with only one open neighbour must be the first or last letter of a word — the path can't pass through it. Find those cul-de-sacs first and half the puzzle structures itself.

2Rare letters anchor everything

A Q, J, X or Z appears in very few words. Work out which of the day's word-lengths could plausibly hold it, and trace outward from there instead of hunting randomly.

3A clever wrong word is the trap

Wend's signature mistake: spotting a real word that uses the wrong tiles. If tracing a word strands even one tile in an unreachable pocket, it's not today's word — undo it before building on it.

4Sweep regions, not letters

The walls carve the grid into rough zones. Ask which word-length fits each zone (the longest word usually snakes through the biggest one) and the paths fall into place together.

How many words are in Wend each day?

It varies — four is the most common, but boards with five or six words turn up too, and the word lengths change daily as well. Whatever the count, together they use every open tile exactly once.

Can Wend words move diagonally?

No — paths move between tiles that share an edge: up, down, left or right only.

When did LinkedIn launch Wend?
