Pinpoint is LinkedIn's daily word-association game: five clue words are revealed one at a time, all belonging to a single hidden category. The earlier you name the category, the better your score — guessing on clue one is the perfect game.

- Five clue words share one hidden category — your job is to name it.
- Clues are revealed one at a time; you may guess after any clue.
- A correct guess ends the round: fewer clues used means a better result.
- Wrong guesses don't end the game — the next clue is simply revealed.
- Close-enough answers are usually accepted; the category doesn't need to be word-perfect.
How to win at Pinpoint — strategy
1Expect the first clue to mislead
The opening word is chosen because it fits several plausible categories. Hold your obvious first idea loosely — the second clue exists to kill it.
2Think attachments, not meanings
Many Pinpoint categories are structural: 'words that can precede BOARD', 'types of key', '___ house'. When the clues feel unrelated by meaning, try bolting a common word onto the front or back of each.
3Say the clues out loud
Hidden-word and sound-based categories (words containing body parts, homophone families) reveal themselves when spoken. Reading silently keeps you trapped in the literal meanings.
4Guess earlier than feels safe
Wrong guesses cost nothing but the clue you were about to see anyway. A confident hunch on clue two is nearly always worth playing — waiting for certainty is how you end up solving on clue five.

By how few clues you needed: solving on the first clue is the best possible game. Your result can be shared with connections, showing which clue number you solved on.
Do wrong answers end a Pinpoint game?
No — an incorrect guess just reveals the next clue. You only fail outright if the fifth clue passes without a correct answer.
Is there a new Pinpoint every day?
Yes, one puzzle daily for all players, with a streak for playing each day. Like the other LinkedIn games, there's no in-app archive of previous days.
