The puzzle, explained

The purple group is all hairstyles that famous soccer players have famously rocked—think David Beckham's mohawk, Carlos Valderrama's legendary perm, Ronaldinho's triangle (that spiky look), and Ronaldo's buzz cut. The sneaky part is that three of these words also work perfectly in the blue group about corner kicks: you can jump during a corner, you can head the ball, and you might mark an opponent, so those felt like natural soccer actions. SHIRT PULL is what should've tipped you off that the blue group was specifically about *physical actions during a corner* rather than general soccer moves, which kept people from accidentally putting MARK or JUMP in that category. BENT and CROKER were probably the most obvious Premier League goal scorers to lock in early, so if you got stuck, that was your anchor to work backward from!
