The puzzle, explained

The purple group is all clubs that Arsène Wenger managed throughout his career—Arsenal is the obvious one, but he also coached Monaco early on, had a stint in Japan with Nagoya Grampus Eight, and started his managerial journey at Nancy in France. The tricky part is that ARSENAL and NANCY sound like they could belong with the green group (players with U.S. state capital surnames), which was the bait—but there's no player named Arsenal or Nancy in the Premier League, so those are actually just Wenger's former clubs. MONACO and NAGOYA GRAMPUS EIGHT were probably the hardest to connect at first since they're less famous than Arsenal, but once you realized the Wenger connection, they all clicked into place as his complete managerial resume.
