NIFTY was a solid mid-range puzzle—not brutal, but definitely not a gimme either. The main challenge was that vowel placement: having *I* and *Y* both doing vowel duty in the same word threw a lot of people off, especially if you were expecting a more traditional vowel layout. The good news is that if you started with a common word like STARE or ADIEU, you'd eliminate some solid letters early and could narrow down the double-vowel situation pretty quickly. The *FT* combo is also pretty restrictive, so once you locked those down, the word practically solved itself.
