The puzzle, explained

The purple group is all things that can follow "Junior" — Junior College, Junior Caminero (the baseball player), Junior Varsity, and Junior Seau (the legendary linebacker). The trickiest part is that SEAU and SINNER sound identical, so you might've grabbed SINNER thinking it belonged in the US Open winners group, when really it's just phonetic bait. Similarly, RAFTER could've tripped you up since it sounds like it might fit somewhere else, but it's legitimately a US Open champ (Dennis Raffer, 1990). The scoreboards group is straightforward abbreviations, and the fantasy football positions are clearly their own thing once you see FLEX and D/ST aren't actual NFL positions but rather scoring categories.
