The puzzle, explained

The trickiest bait here was probably BACK, which could've seemed like it belonged with the Coach group since you "back" someone up, but it's actually part of the wordplay pattern itself. MATTY ICE was likely a tempting distraction too since "ice" sounds like it could fit a pattern, but that one belongs firmly in the Matt Ryan group. The Green NFL mascots were pretty straightforward once you saw the pattern, though BLUE might've thrown people off since it's not as immediately recognizable as the San Diego Chargers mascot compared to names like Swoop or Jaxson de Ville.
